Scrolls scrolls

Have been banging my head against the keyboard, trying to come up with a new control for scrolling that utilizes the least amount of real estate on screen. I found this while updating my iPod one day. It's an interesting approach using filled/unfilled dots to indicate the current position while the left and right buttons scroll a "page" rather than an item at a time. However it still doesn't address the issue when your items have two or more dimensions.

Big cats, big... paws

Saw Duma tonight... Africa depicted is so immense and full of breathtakingly beautiful animals. This poster is so cute
This tail alone should shed some light on the difference between a cheetah and a leopard. A cheetah's tail is usually longer and larger than the leopards, because it's used as a rudder when they run. If you are like a cheetah, going at it at 70mph you will need something strong to direct you places. But of course there are other differences:

The one on top is a leopard with rosette markings and a shorter tail, but then here is another cat with even larger rosette markings and a shorter tail.

And this is a jaguar...

Now onto its cousin who lives in high plains of Asia Snow leopard. Look at the paws of that thing!

little wonders

Going to the gym has a strange effect on one's mind. As the morning unfolds, I find myself avoiding the thought constantly, at times even secretly wishing that something urgent would come up so I am prevented from taking the lunch break, but as soon as I get out of my yoga class I am always glad that I did go through with it. The hereditary human laziness... Any battle I can win over it, all the more power to me.

Yoga is really hard... it's no news, but my experience goes to illustrate just how looks can be deceiving. Initially I actually felt
pretty good when I was able to stablize my pose and hold for a few seconds while some of my fellow students were huffing and puffing, struggling to copy the teacher's poses. The teacher would walk around, check and correct our poses as she saw fit. The minute she placed her cool hands on my body and started turning in ways those body parts weren't intended to turn, every part of my body reacted by screaming for immediate release before I even realized just how wrong I have been doing the poses . All of a sudden I came upon all these new found muscles--it's rather a marvelous feeling. While it's one thing to realize I am weak, it's entirely another to realize that I can really work them to be stronger.

It's been slightly over a month since I had braces put on, and I have been continuously experiencing new sensations (none were very good) in my mouth. It's like a ever-performing circus! The fact that the teeth are really moving isn't news--otherwise all the orthodontists will be out of work no doubt, but what's new to me is that the teeth are actually moving ONE at a time! Last week I started feeling sharp pain in one of the lower molars. It got so bad that even breathing too hard aggrevated it and I quickly adapted to taking light and shallow breaths. It alerted me because the sensation was very similar to that of a cavity surfacing. Two days later before I had any time to feel relieved it wasn't a cavity,
the feeling went away and another tooth started to manifest the same symptom. While a mouthful of moving teeth isn't an appealing idea to anybody, I do feel extremely happy when one of my co-workers, who also wears braces said to me yesterday that my lower teeth now look different (in a good sense, i hope)!
